Research has shown that a 50% increase in intelligence reports in Counter Terrorism was aided by the promotion of national campaigns in local communities. A recently launched campaign “Communities Defeat Terrorism”, consists of primarily an advertisement to be screened in cinemas across the country, and supportive social media content. In our busy day-to-day lives, we would be forgiven to turning a blind eye to something deemed suspicious even to the untrained eye, that we ought to action upon. Of course, it may not be due to time, but to not knowing who to inform, how to inform them or even have the confidence to report it.
However, confronting the threat from terrorism is something that we can all play a part in – by keeping alert and mindful to the actions of those around us, and by having the knowledge and confidence to report it to those who have the ability to do something about it.
By viewing and learning from the campaign advertisement we are all provided with the knowledge to #ACT and by communicating positively with each other on the subject we will gain the confidence to #trustyourinstincts
